To elevate the lived experiences, leadership, and solutions of young women across Africa who are reclaiming their place in land governance, climate action, and community development.

Expose and challenge the deep-rooted injustices in land ownership systems

To confront historical and ongoing inequalities that deny women access, ownership, and control over land, and to advocate for policies that center justice, equity, and reparative action.

Inspire a new generation of grassroots-led transformation

To showcase the power of local women-led solutions in land restoration, climate resilience, and economic empowerment, and to spark global support for sustainable, inclusive development driven from the ground up.

About the Author

Doris Munyingi is a young leader and Program Manager at GROOTS Kenya. She works on women’s land rights, good governance, and climate resilience. Doris has strong experience in working with donors, advocating for women’s leadership, and supporting grassroots women and girls.

She recently served as the youngest-ever Global Council Co-Chair of the International Land Coalition (ILC), where she spoke up for women’s land rights around the world. Doris also represents Eastern Africa in the GIMAC Young Women Regional Network, helping push for women’s rights in African Union spaces.

At 18, she started Dunamis SHG to support girls facing early marriage, FGM, and gender-based violence. In 2024, Doris was named one of the 100 Most Influential Young Women in Africa by the Africa Audacity Awards.
